The term "couple" could mean anything. Your other half could be a significant other like a husband or wife, or it could be a best friend you've known since high school, or a sibling you've known since birth. It doesn't matter who that special person is, what matters is that you have things to do together when the weather gets cooler! Here, we explore 5 things you can do in the Southern Georgian Bay area with your partner during the chilly months!

  1. Skiing or Snowboarding
This reason has to be the first, because towns like Collingwood and The Blue Mountains are known for being ski towns! When you live up here, you could be minutes from the ski hill. It wouldn't take you long to hit the slopes, and you could take advantage of weekdays and mornings when it's less busy in the lift lines!

  2. Snowshoeing
In the Fall, we mentioned the hiking trails as a perk to living in the area. Well in the Winter, those same trails turn into the perfect paths for snowshoeing! Maybe it's something you've always wanted to try, or maybe you already love it! With many of the local trails being free to walk down, all you need to find are a pair (or two) of snowshoes!

  3. Snow Tubing
Tubing isn't just a sport for the cottage in the summer! You can get in a tube and slide down a mountain in the snow - which is just as much (if not more) fun! There are local hills you can enjoy snow tubing at, like Blue Mountain Resort's "Hike N Tube" park. Or if you're looking for a free option, you can grab a sled, find a hill and just try your own version (also known as tobogganing)!

  4. Skating
Skating is a classic winter sport, and perfect for all ages! Not only are there many skating rinks in the area (most of which have beautiful sceneries surrounding them), but there are also many places to rent or buy skates! For a fairly inexpensive sport, it can be very fun!

  5. Watching Holiday Movies By The Fire
Of course after all those outdoor activities, you're going to need to rest. So we can't forget about putting on the fire, grabbing your drink of choice (both hot chocolate and wine are great warm-up drinks), and sitting on the couch with your partner. Another great thing about this time of year is all the cheesy holiday movies - just turn on your TV or pull up Netflix and you'll easily find something cheerful to watch in the comfort of your own home.
